Rukshila Seneviratne Takes the Helm as Head of HR at Standard Chartered Sri Lanka

Standard Chartered has appointed Rukshila Seneviratne as the new Head of Human Resources for Sri Lanka, effective January 12, 2024.

In her new role, Rukshila will lead the country’s people strategy and join the Bank’s Country Management Team. Additionally, she will serve as Co-Chair of the Bank’s internal Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) Council.

Bingumal Thewarathanthri, CEO of Standard Chartered Sri Lanka, commented on the appointment, stating, “We are pleased to announce the appointment of Rukshila Seneviratne as our new Head of Human Resources. Her promotion reflects our culture of recognising internal talent and providing opportunities for leadership roles, ensuring leadership continuity through succession planning. We trust she will enhance our employee value proposition to meet the evolving needs of our workplace.”

Rukshila’s journey with Standard Chartered began in Dubai in 2008, and she transitioned to Sri Lanka in 2010. Over the past decade, she held various senior HR positions, including HR Service Delivery, Performance Rewards and Benefits Delivery, Talent Acquisition, and HR Business Partner roles.

Rukshila holds a Master of Business Administration from the Postgraduate Institute of Management, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, and an Advanced Diploma in Psychology from the Scottish Qualification Authority. She is also a certified Mental Health First Aider (MHFA, England).

Rukshila expressed her excitement about her appointment, emphasising her commitment to fostering an inclusive workplace culture and making Standard Chartered Sri Lanka an employer of choice. She highlighted the importance of the people agenda in driving the bank’s business strategy and her team’s focus on employee value proposition, leadership development, and fostering mutual respect.
