Gender Equality and Women Leadership: Where are we as a country?

Manu Tissera Gunasekara, is a management, communications and advocacy professional with nearly 21 years of experience in diversified disciplines including the corporate and semi government sectors. Currently Manu is involved in humanitarian/development activities. She presently heads the Communications and Strategic Influencing Policy areas within Plan International Sri Lanka.
Prior to Plan International, Manu was the Head of Communications at the Institute of Policy Studies of Sri Lanka. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Kelaniya, Master’s Degree from the University of Colombo, a Scholar at the Japan Foundation, Kansai and read for MBA from the University of Queensland.
Currently she is doing her post graduate research at the University of Colombo with research interests on rural sustainability, social capital and active citizenship. Her work and academic interests are in gender equality, inclusion and women empowerment.
Manu is a Fellow of the Institute of Management of Sri Lanka (IMSL), a past Honorary Secretary of IMSL, and has contributed to the management journals and publications of the IMSL, and provided editorial support during her tenure at the Institute of Policy Studies.
